Dalek Emperor - Reshape Kit Review

We were very pleased to get this new model kit. This is the Dalek Emperor - as featured in the stories in TV21, the classic Anderson/TV related British comic of the 60's. The Emperor also featured in various Dalek annuals.
The Emperor is no relation to Davros - the Doctor Who series character. The Emperor was devised for the comic strips long before Davros was created for television. The two characters are from different ideas about the Dalek's origins - and are mutually incompatible. You could regard them as existing in different 'time lines'.
Unlike Davros, the Emperor Dalek is a true Dalek - and always was so. He is not a humanoid master of the Daleks as Davros is/was.
The Emperor is a golden Dalek with a more conical base than his subjects. He also has a huge spherical 'head'. The gun, arm, eyestalk and other features are very similar to the other Daleks.

So, introductions out of the way - let's look at the kit.
We are impressed. This looks a great kit. It is a faithful representation of the TV21 character. The main bulk of the Dalek is made of resin with the small parts being injection moulded plastic. The plastic parts actually come from Comet's range of 1/8 scale Daleks - seen elswhere here at Space City.

The parts are nicely cast, with little flash and no bubble holes to mar the finish. A little careful cleaning and sanding seems all that is required prior to assembly.
Full marks for a quality kit - highly recommended.

As with any kit, there are always ways to improve it.
The Emperor Dalek is not fully poseable. Whilst the 'head' will rotate, the gun, arm and eyestalk are not moveable.
We'll be customizing the kit slighly in order to make the Emperor Dalek as poseable as the Comet Miniatures Daleks.

We'll be using this Dalek for many photographs and a variety of poses will be very handy. If you just want to put the Dalek on display, then there's no problem with the kit as supplied.

Here is a picture of what you get when you buy the kit -
all the parts and the instruction sheet. As you can see - you get a lot of parts for your money.

Emperor Dalek

Modification to assembly of 'head' section.
We cut a new horizontal slot across the vertical eye slot.
This will enable us to insert a metal pin for the eye stalk to pivot on.
We used small drills and files to cut the new slot.
Once the eyestalk is in place we'll superglue the metal pin, then use filler to close up the slot.
